Lemon Tree Plantations is a family-owned estate in Hydur Village, nestled in the gently hilly country twelve kilometres from Sakleshpur in Hassan District, Karnataka. We came to this land in 2008 — not as inheritors of a dynasty but as people who simply wanted a piece of the Western Ghats to call our own. The name was chosen on a whim, for the way it sounded. The land, though, turned out to be more serious than the name.
The estate grows coffee, pepper, and areca across a patchwork of sixteen named blocks — each with its own character, its own microclimate, its own seasonal rhythms. Some blocks hug the hillside; others open into clearings where the light falls differently. Managing them means learning a new vocabulary every year: of rainfall and shade, of harvest timing and soil, of the labour and patience that slow agriculture demands.
We are not farmers by origin. But Lemon Tree has made us students of the land — attentive, sometimes humbled, occasionally rewarded. This site is a record of that ongoing education.
